Coming up: Showcase!

Hello again, Studio residents! We are a month into your first semester here on campus, and that means it’s about time for your first Studio Showcase.

Studio residents Deryk Gonzalez, Papacanoochee Lewis-Holt, and Abigail Arkley perform during the second spring 2019 Studio Showcase.

For those who are unfamiliar, Showcases are events that happen throughout the year that give you a chance to share your creative practice and enjoy as others do the same. Each performer will have a slot of time in which they can share their passion – be it dance, music, stand-up comedy, poetry, clowning, or whatever you can come up with – with the other members of the community. If you are a visual artist, the Showcase does not leave you out! There is space to display art of any kind, so do not feel like you are unable to share. In the past, visual artists have had slots during the Showcase as well to describe their creative process and the work they produce.

Every Showcase is a magical event made possible by all of you and your creative energy. We invite everyone to share their passions, but just as important as the performers is the audience. It is extremely important to be open, welcoming, and supportive of everyone that shares – it is not always an easy thing to do. These are your peers, friends, and fellow artists; everyone must feel comfortable in presenting their art.

Sign up to be part of our next Showcase on Tuesday, October 15 from 6-8 pm in the Blackbox. Please be in the Blackbox at 5 pm to do a soundcheck or hang your visual art! https://forms.gle/z4zHNVbkTpCemxUB8

There is no better time to be a member of the Studio than during a Showcase. These events are the cornerstone of what we are all here for, and we can’t wait to see what you all have to share!
